Personal
This is the homepage of Jouke Visser. Perl fanatic. I'm a (freelance) programmer.
If you are looking for a Perl programmer for short-term assignments, you can hire me. At this moment, I'm happily
employed at Bookings.org, so a fulltime position is not what I'm looking for. If you have a vacancy you're free to contact me,
but it's unlikely I'll accept anything fulltime.
This is the place where you can find my most up-to-date resume.
I'm the maintainer of the (GUI)
Windows Programming FAQ. If you have any suggestions on what questions
are missing, please mail me.
I created a page with information on Perl programming on Win32 platforms
The Amsterdam.pm CPAN leaderboard can be found here
Thanks to The Perl Foundation I'm able to go to the O'Reilly's Open Source Convention to talk about pVoice. Hopefully I will get other people interested in writing software for disabled
people.
The slides of this presentation are now online at http://jouke.pvoice.org/oscon-2004/index.html
Genealogy
One of my hobbies is genealogy. There are three pages so far with:
What I do
The slides of the talk I gave at YAPC::Europe 2003 about Developing and Distributing Perl Applications for
Microsoft Platforms are online now
The examples are
available as a .zip file too!
I gave a tutorial at YAPC::Europe 2002 in
Munich about "wxPerl". You can find the slides of this presentation here.
I currently have a few modules on CPAN: AAC::Pvoice, Audio::BASSXS,
Win32::MSAgent, Win32::SoundRec,
Win32::SAPI4, Wx::Metafile, and I've just taken over the maintenance of
Games::Tetris from Richard Clamp.
I developed pVoice and pStory in 2001. Recently I released
pVoice 2.1, which contains a lot of
improvements over 2.0. For more information, visit the the pVoice site
I used to be the founder and -ehem- 'fearless leader' of the Rotterdam Perl Mongers. However, I
recently moved to Haren (Gn), which is too far from Rotterdam to keep doing
this (and we didn't get together in months, so it was practically dead
anyway). If anyone is interested in picking it up again, just drop me a
note.
In 2001 I was one of the organisers of YAPC::Europe in Amsterdam. I spoke there
about pVoice and took quite a bit of pictures there.
Perl links
I set up a wxPerl Wiki
The purpose is to get more coding examples and documentation for wxPerl
online
At PerlMonks people who want to
know more about Perl come together to chat and discuss various Perl-related
topics. My personal homenode can be found here.
The use.perl.org site is the resource for Perl related
news. A lot of people well known and less well known in the Perl community
keep a journal there.
